Langley Players is a community theatre group founded in 1969.  We host three productions a year - fall, winter and spring.  Located in the Langley community known as Brookswood, we strive to offer quality local entertainment.

Our plays are chosen by our Play Selection Committee. We hold several play reading meetings throughout the year, where the committee reads then critiques the plays which have been submitted by directors.  Each April the productions are chosen for the coming season and crew and production people are encouraged to plan which shows they would like to work on.

We have educational opportunities throughout the year, offering tutorials and workshops on various theatre based subjects.

Our general meetings are at the theatre on the first Tuesday of each month from September to June, gathering at 7:00pm for coffee and the meeting starts at 7:30pm.

Langley Players always welcomes new members.  For more information on how to join our club, or on the many volunteer positions available please go to the Join Us section of our website.

The Langley Players are affiliated with Theatre BC (TBC), one of Canada's liveliest grassroots arts organizations, providing member clubs with an opportunity to showcase their achievements.  The province is divided into 11 zones, with several clubs in each district.  Each member club chooses a play from their season to compete in a zone festival and the best production from the zone festival then goes on to the provincial level festival, known as Mainstage.   Each zone in the province takes turns hosting.   To find out more details log onto Theatre BC's website - www.theatrebc.org

Langley Players Drama Club is also a member of the Community Theatre Coalition.  The CTC was formed in 1992 "to honour outstanding achievement in community theatre". It is comprised of a maximum of 10 community theatre clubs from Vancouver to Langley. Each member group selects a member from their club to represent them as a 'nominating representative'. The nominating reps are required to attend all of the approximately 30 plays entered annually. Much like the "Tony" awards of New York's theatre scene, at the end of the season, each rep casts their votes on a nomination ballot. Those ballots are tabulated with the resulting 5 nominees in each of 18 categories including both performance (acting) and technical (lights, sound, set, etc.) being announced at a casual Nominations Announcement party. The nominees make up the final ballot, again voted by the nominating reps, after which they are tabulated again by an accounting firm. The results are sealed in envelopes for each category to be opened and revealed at a glamorous Gala Awards night where the winners in each category are presented with the coveted CTC Trophies.
